Highway 10 Construction

In the spring of 2022, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will begin construction on Highway 10. The first stretch of the project will improve 2.5 miles of highway in the City of Anoka by repairing and/or replacing aging roads and bridges as well as building new interchanges on Highway 10 at Thurston Avenue, Fairoak Avenue and Ferry Street. This project is anticipated to conclude in the spring of 2024. Learn more about Anoka's Highway 10 Project.

Heading north up the corridor into Elk River, MnDOT will begin to reconstruct 3.0 miles of Highway 169 into a freeway through Elk River from Highway 10/101 to 197th Avenue. The project includes four new interchanges and will take three years to construct with project conclusion anticipated in the fall of 2024. Learn more about the 169 Redefine Project.

In the fall of 2023, MnDOT will begin construction on Ramsey's Highway 10 Gateway Project. This project includes two, grade-separated interchanges at Ramsey Boulevard and Sunfish Lake Boulevard that will replace existing signalized intersections. The at-grade BNSF railway crossings on Ramsey Boulevard and Sunfish Lake Boulevard will also be grade-separated. This project is anticipated to conclude in the spring of 2026. Drivers should allow extra time when traveling on Highway 10 and use alternative routes to avoid congestion. Drivers are also reminded to follow signed detour routes during closures and avoid cutting through neighborhoods.
