  1. Volunteer Sought to Help with Homelessness Study

    Volunteers sought to help with homelessness study Wilder Research has asked regions across the state to count the number of people experiencing homeless in their communities, and Anoka County is seeking volunteers for this effort, which will take place Oct. 25 at various locations around the county. Trainings will be provided on how to conduct face-to-face interviews with the homeless. These trainings are scheduled 1 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 15 and 2 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in room No. 552 of the Anoka County Government Center, 2100 3rd Ave., Anoka. Visit to sign up for the trainings or for more information about this initiative. A self-guided training is available for those who have participated in past studies and will be posted on the 2018 Minnesota Homeless Study webpage toward the end of September.

  2. Anoka Community Connect

    October 25, 2018, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM @ Church of St. Timothy

    Oct. 25 event organized to help the homeless Anoka Community Connect is a one-day event dedicated to helping people who may be homeless or living with others. It will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Church of St. Timothy, 707 89th Ave. NE, Blaine. This event gives people who are struggling to find stable housing access to resources and services that can make a difference in their daily lives. Free haircuts, flu shots, blood pressure checks, help with resumes, tips on how to successfully interview and housing information are just a few of the services to be offered. Employers will be looking for people to hire 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and a free bag lunch will be given to those who attend.     Candlelight Yoga with Barbara Sandarin, RYT It’s Barbara’s goal to introduce yoga in a safe, non-competitive, judgment-free way. Yoga is for EVERYBODY! Barbara will guide a Vinyasa style of yoga that focuses on breath and movement. Practicing by candlelight will allow you to wind down in a calming environment. All levels are welcome, as modifications will be offered.
