Introduction to Birding

Birding is an activity you can enjoy year-round every time you are outside.  Whether you are an experienced birder or looking to learn the basics, join us for some birding. An experienced bird guide will lead the group through one of Ramsey's beautiful parks. Please note that each birding program will be at a different Ramsey park.

ART IN THE PARK: Spring Flowers - Wine and Canvas Painting

Embrace your inner artist with an evening of painting with friends and a glass of wine. Rumriver Art Center instructors will lead participants step-by-step through this acrylic spring flower painting, allowing you to understand the process of each technique and still be able to create your own version.

Starting Your Own Garden
Thursday, May 11, 2017 / 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Anoka County Master Gardeners will teach you all you need to know to plant your own garden, whether it’s at home or in one of Ramsey’s Community Gardens. From soil basics and planting techniques, to plant care and harvest, you will learn what it takes to grow your own vegetables.  After the hands-on lecture, you will pot your own vegetable plant to keep at home.

Join instructors at Rumriver Art Center as they lead you through a new art project. This class is for artists of all ages.  Have fun with your family or friends while you learn how to create a unique clay fairy house.  You can build your own or make it a family project.

Kayaking

Introduction to Kayaking

Learn the basics behind this fun and easy way to get out on the water.  Regardless of skill and comfort levels, participants will enjoy their kayaking experience. Learn to Kayak Class
Saturday, June 3, 2017 / 8:30 am - 10:00 am or 10:30 am - Noon

 


Kick off summer with a paddle around Sunfish Lake in kayaks. Find out why kayaking is one of Minnesota’s fastest growing outdoor adventures. You will learn how to paddle correctly, get in and out of a kayak easily and safely, and how to pack for a day on the water. You will also get an overview of Ramsey’s canoe/kayak rental system available free to residents.

Pickleball

Introduction to Pickleball

Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The class will be led by Luke Jesso, a USA Pickleball Association Ambassador for the northwest metro. You will learn the strokes, positioning, rules, and scoring. After you get a taste of the sport, stay and watch the Northwest Metro Pickleball Team practice.

Performing in the Park: Devised Theatre - "Magic, Mayhem, and Mischief"
Monday, June 26 - Wednesday, June 28, 2017 / 9:00am - 11:00am

Students in grades K-5 will work collaboratively to create a script through improvisation games and techniques. Students will perform a short skit on the final day of class. This is a great class for children who use their creativity daily, and like to express their ideas through stories.

An interactive vocal seminar for students in grades 6-12 to explore an array of singing styles. The workshop will focus on technique for the solo singer and elements of group singing.
